Lake Ontario 300 – 2011 our 4th go at it…
Black Diamond a Jeanneau 39i Performance Cruiser will be making its 4th go around on the Lake Ontario 300 in 2011. The first two attempts were successfully completed, our personal record time of 2 days and 8 hours for the full course, of 300 miles, about 550kms. Last year we did not finish due to a crew member, Glenn Butt, who was injured. You can read more about last year here on our blog (search LO300 on our blog). We are pleased to see Glenn recover fully! He sailed wonderfully with us on the Susan Hood this year and is back on the LO300 this year to finish what we started last year!
Black Diamond is all tuned up and raring to go, we feel we have an excellent crew and strategy this year for our best finish ever. Although the forecast looks very light, we will try to do our best, since our boat is an ocean boat, and likes the heavier winds. For one thing, we only carry a 110% jib, Our boat has a harder time in the Lake Ontario lighter air.
Our Crew this year is… My self, Ed Radonic, Artem Klyuka, Igor Usyn, Paul Benninger, Glenn Butt and Rob Rumble.
We are doing 2 shifts of 4 hours each, the shift are Ed Skipper, Paul in Pit and Glenn Trimming, second shift Captain is Artem, Rob in Pit and Igor Trimming.
